Alice Cooper "School's Out" in June
ALICE COOPER exclusively told us backstage at the Academy of the new album they are recording.
The album will be "School's Out", and will be released on June 1, in time for the end of the school session. The album will feature a cut out or photo of a desk, and when you open it or you slide the cover off you'll find Alice... We aren't going to tell you what you'll see, because from Alice's description it will be outrageous to say the least. Alice also told us that there'll be a "new stage concept" for the band, which will go hand in hand with "School's Out". New Yorkers may see the act this summer at Gaelic Park.
Following out conversation, Alice played to a full house at the Academy. The Academy staff had erected a special ramp from the stage edge out over the orchestra pit to the first few rows of the audience. Effective is an understatement, with Cooper fans clutching at Alice's posters.
"Killer", the set Alice performed which features Alice chopping the heads off a doll, was still as effective as on previous viewings. The semi-climax is when Alice is hung, and then comes dancing back on stage in white tie and tails.
A film of "Killer" was made for TV airing on education stations across the country.
Alice Cancels British Dates
ALICE COOPER has cancelled his projected visit to Britain.
Alice was due in late last week, for concerts in London and to record a new album — "School's Out" — at Air London Studios.
However, since the Rainbow closed last week, there were problems finding a venue, and a spokesman for Alice said that they'd had permit problems. "It all became too complicated."
The visit has been postponed indefinitely. Rumours that Alice was too upset to come because his snake had died proved unfounded.
