Calico Cooper movie role

Calico Cooper, who has recently been seen playing in Alice's stage show, is currently the main attraction in an upcoming movie entitled Scarlet Fry's Junkfood Horrorfest. Scarlet Fry is a low budget horror/comedy anthology, written and directed by Brian Crow and Walter Ruether. Calico plays a junkie who "will kill for a fix", in the short entitled 'Junk'. The film had been in development for 10 months before "we had decided we needed a star, a name, something to sell the movie. We had just seen Alice cooper in phoenix and I said to my partner, 'What if we could get Alice cooper's daughter?'," explained Walter. After contacting Calico, she agreed to the role, and filmed her sequence in Phoenix during the Easter break.

'Junk' is only one of six shorts that are not for the faint of heart, in a film that explores the deprivaty and twisted nature of the human psyche. 'Bloodthirsty Buthcher' depicts how far a man will go when his fridge gets empty. In 'Wasted Life' we watch a man take his own life in a bathtub. 'Devil Made Me Do It' shows how a mans choice of faith will have it's undying consequences. A nurse finds a gorey 'Solution' to her problems with a patient. And finally, in 'Grip Tape Spank' a gang of skater kids give a pervert more than he bargained for.

Brian Crow and Walter Ruether are currently seeking a distributor for their anthology movie, and hope to see a release by the fall. It appears that Alice has signed to New West Records which is primarily a country label, not many details have surfaced as of yet.

News Round-up

New West Records are set to release Alice's latest album, Dirty Diamonds, in the USA on August 2nd. The European release still appears to be in the hands of Eagle Rock/Spitfire Records. Alice describes Dirty Diamonds as the "Eyes of Alice Cooper with more polish on it," and is being dubbed as a nod to the British Invasion while not straying too far from the current garage rock scene.

Tracks so far include: Dirty Diamonds, Steal That Car, Woman Of Mass Distraction, Your Own Worst Enemy, Six Hours, Saga of Jesse Jane, Zombie Dance, Sunset Babies (All Got Rabies), Pretty Ballerina (originally recorded by The Left Banke), Run Down The Devil, and Perfect.

The album was co-produced by Steve Lindsey and Rick Boston. The players are made up of Alice's recent touring band, Roxie Ryan (guitar), Damon Johnson (guitar), Chuck Garric (bass) and Tommy Clufetos (bass). Additional contributions are made by Rick Boston (Rickie Lee Jones), bassist Mike Elizondo (Eminem) and keyboardist Teddy Zigzag (Guns N Roses).

USA release date is set for August 2nd, which is almost a month after the European release date of July 4th. New West Records has issued a press release for 'Dirty Diamonds'. Read it here

Alice will being appearing on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson on CBS to promote the Rock School movie, and will more then likely throw in a plug for 'Dirty Diamonds'. The appearance is set to air on Tuesday May 24th, 2005. Check local listings for times.
