Lay Down and Die, Goodbye (1967)

(Vincent Furnier, Michael Bruce, Glen Buxton, Dennis Dunaway, John Speer)

Well I pray in my final hour
For the people who yet must die
For the liars and the robbers
And the cheating crimes
Who tortured the deadly times

Well I've written home to mother
The ink ran from my tears
I said "Momma, momma, oh please.
Tell me why you brought me here"

Well I'll hang on another minute
But really I have to go
If you ever want to see me again
You know what you can do

Well I've written home to mother
The ink ran from my tears
I said "Momma, momma, oh please.
Tell me why you brought me here"

Song Information

History:A pre-Alice Cooper song. Recorded and released as a b-side to the Wonder Who's Loving Her Now single in 1968 when the band were known as the Nazz. The song was later reworked and would later appear on the Easy Action album in 1970. This orignal version of the song would re-appear on a bootleg single called 'Battle of the Bands: The Spiders Vs. The Nazz' during the 80's, and more recently, on the Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper box set in 1999.
