Sing Low, Sweet Cheerio

NOTE: This early version of Sing Low has some severe lyrical changes but thematically is very similar from the final version. There are two versions of the demo recording, the later of which really shows Alice's vocal style progressing significantly and gaining confidence over the first. There are no lyrical changes between versions, possibily recorded a year apart. Unreleased but available on Pretties For You rehearsals and earlier such bootlegs.

"Tickets, tickets, tickets please"
A man yelled from the train
I passed along the sidewalk
As thoughts flashed through my brain
Well I got upon that railroad car
As other times before
It's wheels of steel begin to turn
Conductor close the door

But this story starrin' me had already begun
'Cause I had my ticket in my hand
On a train trip just for fun

"Help me, help me, help me please"
My voice rang from the train
I searched and searched, myself beside
Nobody else to blame
I left home on those railroad tracks
To find somewhere to hide

But leavin' death, and leaving her a little of me died
Right then my story ended and a new one had begun
Of a lonely man with nothing more
On a train trip just for fun
