Alice Cooper band to play charity slo-pitch match in Thunder

The Dougall Media No-Stars won’t be playing Mr. Nice Guy on Aug. 19.

Though it won’t be a billion dollar bash, members of Alice Cooper’s band have agreed to take on a team of Dougall Media employees in a five-inning slo-pitch match immediately following the final game on the opening day of the Baseball Canada Cup.

The tournament, which features the best 16 and 17 years olds across the country, is being held from Aug. 18-22 at Port Arthur Stadium and the Central Ball Diamond.

The game is tentatively scheduled to start at 9 p.m. Money raised from the charity event will be donated to PRO Kids, a local organization that provides underprivileged children with the opportunity to participate in sports and recreation activities.

No word yet on whether Cooper himself will participate in the game.

Tickets for the Baseball Canada Cup are available at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium. Full tournament passes are $20 before Aug. 1. After that they are $25. Single day passes are also available.
